Three Winners For Strongmen Challenge Are All Fasting. Taufik Batisah Is One Of Them
Taufik Batisah, Singapore’s first Idol and accomplished housing agent, emerged champion of ONEFM’s One Challenge this year.
The One Challenge is a 10 week long fitness challenge with 9 zones. Competitors have 60 seconds to finish each zone with the maximum number of repetitions to win.
As the competition lasted from February till April, the last couple of weeks proved to be challenging for Taufik as it coincided with Ramadan. Ramadan is when Muslims are required to fast from dawn till dusk. So no food or drinks till the call of the evening prayer.
The sun, the heat and being unable to drink water was challenging but Taufik believed in mind over matter.
“I believe the mind is a really strong tool and if you believe in yourself enough, you can achieve anything.” – Taufik Batisah
His wife, being his pillar of support, joined him in his goal of getting fit by going on morning walks and incorporating exercises into their daily lives.
Taufik also mentioned that fitness should be a lifestyle and it is important to make exercising a daily habit. The key to that is to ensure that exercises should be sustainable.
“You don’t even have to go crazy with morning walks or night walks. The most difficult thing is to start. So start simple and start easy.” – Taufik Batisah
The leaderboard was divided into 4 categories namely strong male, stronger male, strong female and stronger female.
Nico Joubert emerged the champion of the stronger female category. Taufik was in the top 10 of the stronger male categories and emerged victorious in the finals. The winners from each category walked away with $20 000 worth of prizes.
Reporter’s Opinions: Congratulations Taufik! Continue inspiring others around you to lead a healthy and holistic lifestyle.
What he said is true. Exercise should be part of your daily life and starting is the most difficult. But once you get into the habit of it, it will become natural to you. When I first started 4 years ago, it was agonizing. I started with long walks then progressed to HIIT and then the gym. But over time, I realized what works for me and do that consistently.
Now, it’s a part of my life. So start small and start easy.
