Recently, Sembawang residents decorated the corridor of their flats with creepy characters just in time for Halloween. Minister Ong Ye Kung shared the photos in a Facebook post that has since gone viral with over 1.7k shares.

Reporter’s Opinions: As a true blue Singaporean, I enjoy a dose of the creepy and paranormal from time to time. I appreciate the decor, though the red lighting is a bit overboard. It gives off an eerie vibe but it can spook children, the elderly and those who are fainthearted.

And one might get in trouble if anything untoward were to happen.

It’s interesting to see Halloween being accepted more here in recent years considering it’s not an official festival in Singapore. We’ve had the horror nights at various places of attractions for years now but that is more of generating money as compared to celebrating it.

Such is the power of globalisation, especially when Singapore is a melting pot of cultures with a dash of Westernization.
