Social media network linked to Chinese tycoon fraudster blocked in Singapore
Singapore has used its foreign interference law to block nearly 100 social media accounts linked to Guo Wengui, an exiled Chinese billionaire recently convicted in the US for defrauding followers
Singapore's Ministry of Home Affairs found that 92 accounts were part of a network related to Guo and the NSFC, posting videos about Singapore's leadership transition and baselessly alleging that the Chinese Communist Party was behind Singapore’s governance
These accounts were ordered to be blocked on major social media platforms
He built a real estate empire in China before fleeing to the US in 2014 after a political ally was arrested
Guo and former White House strategist Steve Bannon launched the New Federal State of China (NSFC) in 2020, aiming to overthrow the Chinese Communist Party
He too has a history of influencing political discourse in other countries, often spreading anti-Chinese Communist Party content
Guo defrauded thousands of followers, raising over $1 billion through bogus investments and cryptocurrency schemes. Funds were spent on luxury items, including a yacht and sports cars
He was convicted of multiple charges, including money laundering and fraud on July 17
