Singapore reprimanded by China

Singapore was among the countries that were chided by China for congratulating William Lai for Taiwan's election victory. Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement congratulating Lai's victory.

China's spokesperson for foreign affairs, Mao Ning, said that China has made solemn demarches to Singapore and hopes that Singapore will strictly abide by the one-China principle and uphold the overall friendly relations between China and Singapore with concrete actions.

The other countries that were reprimanded include the US, Japan, and a few other European countries.
