Private Trainer Called Out After Video Of Him Repeatedly Touching Client’s Butt Surfaced
Personal trainers can either be a joy or a nightmare to work with depending on how hard they train you. But a PT that does everything else except training their clients properly, that is a story a number of females can relate to.
In a recent Instagram post by Cheryl Loh, a personal trainer, she documented a male PT being handsy with his client, in the wrong way. She called him out for his unprofessional behavior after witnessing the discomfort of the client.
Cheryl mentioned that the way he was touching his client despite her being uncomfortable with it, is considered a sexual harassment. She calls it an abuse of position and authority by PTs and considers it despicable.
Cheryl reached out to the woman and she mentioned that she was uncomfortable with her PT’s touches. The unnamed woman even called him out for touching her butt over the course of 7 sessions, but he paid no heed, saying that he needs to feel the clench of her butt muscles.
Netizens seems to share her sentiments as they identified the PT as a creep.
She also mentioned that such acts are rather common unfortunately and most clients aren’t aware or are scared to call their PT out. It appears that the PT in question is a freelancer and not employed by the gym, Apeiro Performance.
Following the incident, the gym stopped him from using their gym space for his own PT sessions effective 2nd August. The woman also stopped training with him but won’t be pressing charges against him. She however wants her story to be shared to create awareness for anyone who have faced a situation similar to hers while training.
Nobody should put up with any action that makes them uncomfortable while training in the name of “professional advice”.
Reporter’s Opinion: Such acts are rather common unfortunately. And enabled by people like this.
Personal trainers and coaches are supposed to be professional with their clients at all times. The gym is a safe space for anyone who wants to workout, keep fit and lose weight. However, morons like him makes it hard for both trainers and trainees alike.
He was clearly harassing her and honestly, I would have turned around and kicked him in the nuts if it was me. This is why women in particular prefer to train alone.
However, having said that, as someone who works out, I have seen my fair share of creeps in the gym and the parks. I’ve been made uncomfortable by stares of men in fitness centers, especially when I am the only woman working out there.
There is a difference in wanting to correct someone’s form and plain lewd staring. Make the gyms and fitness centers a safe space for everyone to use.
