Minced Malay Meat Tofu Sold At Singapore Cuisine Eatery
A “Singapore Styled” restaurant in Beijing caught the attention of local netizens for their terrible translations and knock-off SIA uniforms the waitresses were wearing.
The Facebook post by Arthur Pang garnered over 1.7k shares. He said that the restaurant was run by the local Chinese in Beijing.

The terrible translation starts off with a famous Taiwanese dish, 3 cups chicken in the Lion City, presumably to reflect the Singaporean chinese adaptation of the dish.
Next up, is a questionable tofu dish made with minced Malay meat. You heard that right.
Netizens had a riot in the comments section with this one.
Yeah, this is undeniable. Oops.
Did tahu goreng go on a diet and came back a vegetable? That is kangkong belacan, btw, one of Singaporeans beloved vegetable dishes.
Yeah, everyone is looking for the tahu.
Next up, we have roti prata, or what is translated to “Lion City Throw Bread”.
According to this comment, even though it is literal, the translation is not wrong.
What a fitting tribute to our fine city.
There’s something sinister about this dessert, not too sure if one would actually want to eat it.
Seems the general consensus is that the rabbits look evil.
This is funny, it does look like lab rats actually.
It looks refreshing but definitely not coconut water.
That’s the question on everyone’s minds.
But perhaps the most offensive would be the cheap knock-off SIA girl uniforms the waitresses were wearing with sports shoes. The placement of the pleats and slits are totally off.
Hopefully the food and the service is not as terrible as the translations.
Reporter’s Opinions: Chinese to English translations have always been funny especially when it is literally translated.
Yeah, very appetising, noodles in boiled urine. And that poor duck.
But this particular borderless restaurant took things to a new level. It’s one thing to translate badly but to mislabel iconic dishes like kangkong sambal and coconut sago?
Perhaps the owner should come over here to learn of the dishes that they’re selling or Youtube it. Like seriously, a lot of street food channels have featured Singapore and it’s really easy to learn about the local dishes.
