LTA u-turn on SimplyGo
After significant backlash on upgrading to the SimplyGo system, LTA is u-turning on the change.
Commuters no longer have to change their cards, while those who already did can change them back for free.
In an FB post, Min Chee Hong Tat acknowledged and apologized for the rocky transition, adding that the Government would spend an additional $40 million to extend the currently existing systems.
While the upgrade was intended to improve management as commuters would be able to top-up and manage their transport funds via an app, many netizens welcomed the reversal. Some questioned the unnecessary costs incurred for replacing a perfectly working system with one that still had kinks in it.
