In a surprising twist during the trial of Workers’ Party (WP) leader Pritam Singh, former WP member Loh Pei Ying, who had previously served as Raeesah Khan’s assistant, was caught lying under cross-examination.

While testifying for the prosecution, Loh admitted to redacting a message in a document submitted to the Committee of Privileges (COP).

The message, from WP member Yudhishthra Nathan, suggested that they “should just lie about it some more”.

Loh initially provided a different reason for the redaction, which she later admitted was untrue.

Loh’s admission came after intense questioning from Singh’s lawyer, Andre Jumabhoy, who exposed her dishonesty.

The trial revolves around Singh’s alleged instructions to Khan to maintain a lie she told in parliament about accompanying a rape victim to a police station.

Both Khan and Loh testified that Singh advised Khan to uphold the lie, which Singh denies.

Loh’s redaction was meant to protect Nathan, but her explanation about the concealment unravelled during questioning.

Jumabhoy also highlighted that Loh had suggested gathering more anecdotes from sexual assault survivors as a strategy to avoid Khan lying again, which Mr Singh's lawyer suggested was an attempt to obstruct the investigation.
