KFC’s National Fried Chicken day promotion didn’t go quite as planned when complaints from netizens started flowing in on their social media pages. The complaints ranged from the promotional price not being honoured by certain branches to running out of stock and the long waiting time. KFC offered a bucket of 5 chicken pieces for $8 on July 6 in conjunction with National Fried Chicken Day.

The original post showed customers from the VivoCity branch enjoying the promotion. However there were other disgruntled customers who were unimpressed at how other KFCs handled the promotion and asked them to learn how to handle it better.

Others were weirded out by how some outlets said that they “ran out of the promotion” but were willing to sell it at regular prices.

Despite the negative feedback, not everyone shared the bad experience of the promotion. A number of people reported having no issues with their purchases.

There are those who tried explaining that some outlets were understaffed and the staff was crumbling under the pressure of overwhelming demand.

Some wanted KFC to compensate them for the amount of time they wasted while waiting for their orders to be prepared.

Longer waiting times are expected when it comes to cheap promotions like these, but to run out of chickens and not honour the promotional prices reflects badly on their managerial practices.

Reporter’s Opinions: No wonder the queues were insane at KFC yesterday. I was wondering why some people were annoyed, tapping their feet and all.

Okay here’s the thing, the term “while stocks last” does not mean you can suddenly stop the promotion midway but still sell the chickens at regular pricing. You need to honour the promotion unless it comes with a disclaimer saying that management reserves the right to change promotional terms at any time. From the promotional poster, there was no fine print saying that.

Be better prepared next time KFC, this isn’t your first ball game at selling chicken buckets at promotional prices.
