Income inequality in Singapore improving, but consumers need to play a part

PM Wong highlighted Singapore's improving income inequality situation in a recent video address, but stressed that consumers must also be prepared to pay more for certain services.
In the video, he addressed questions posed to him by ordinary Singaporeans. He had earlier this year committed to having more communications with the public during his term as Prime Minister
His response underscored a whole-of-society approach to tackling income inequality, saying that while those who do well should be allowed to excel, they should also contribute via taxes to help the government uplift more vulnerable segments of society
Many in the comments sections appreciated the new PM's responses, with some asking him to also dialogue with other groups of Singaporeans
However, some expressed concerns about the gaps between policy direction and actual implementation
