How Much Did The Facebook Outage Cost? USD 6 Billion In 6 Hours. Madness!
The global Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp outage yesterday cost Mark Zuckerberg a total of USD6 billion dollars in losses. Being the next giant after Google for ad services, it was estimated that Facebook lost about USD545 000 (SGD740 000) for every hour that the platform was down.
Users started to face problems at about 12 am local time when Facebook stopped loading across apps and web browsers. Whatsapp and Instagram were also affected as messages and feeds stopped loading.
This was the second blow to Facebook in a matter of days after a whistleblower accused the company of prioritizing money over security and clamping down on hate speech and misinformation.
As of now, the official reason for the outage is faulty configuration change as opposed to internal sabotage that’s being speculated.

Social media addiction is real.
More likely his team than him.
The global outage shows how dependent the world is on the media giant that is under scrutiny for a host of issues that is deemed problematic. Love them or hate them, clearly one can’t function without them.
Reporter’s Opinions: I’d be lying if I say I wasn’t affected by the outage last night as my job depends on the 3 horsemen. The one that fucked my life up a bit was when my Whatsapp was affected at around 8 pm because my mother assumed I was kidnapped.
6 billion in 6 hours, damnson. Mark, I hope you’re okay bestie.
But in all honesty, the whole world is dependent on social media regardless of what they say. It has wormed its way into being the means as to how we communicate, whether for leisure or business. If that doesn’t fucking scare you at some level, it should after yesterday.
