Farah Diyanah charged with 283 counts of cheating
Farah Diyanah Abdul Falik, aged 34, is facing 283 cheating charges for orchestrating a hotel room scam that defrauded victims of over S$1.3million
Farah advertised discounted hotel packages on social media, enticing unsuspecting customers with seemingly irresistible deals
Between mid-December 2021 to December 2022, the police received reports of victims who were deceived by a seller on social media offering discounted hotel room packages
Farah allegedly tricked victims into PayNow transfers for stays at prestigious hotels like Capella Singapore, Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa, and The Fullerton Bay Hotel
She requested customers’ details such as name, mobile number, date of stay, and the number of rooms to secure these promotions
The rooms were ostensibly booked under the customers' names, and payments were made directly to Farah via mobile transfer
However, upon arrival at the hotels, customers were surprised to discover their credit cards charged the full room prices, despite already paying for the advertised discounted package
Farah was arrested by police officers from the Anti-Scam Command and handed with cheating charges
Investigations have revealed her involvement in more than 900 unfulfilled hotel room package bookings
