Cristiano Ronaldo’s Homecoming, Club’s Official Website Crashed, Legends And Stars Alike Elated
Cristiano Ronaldo’s homecoming broke the internet yesterday. The Manchester United website crashed as fans were scrambling to find out if the deal was sealed.
The return of the GOAT brought elation and tears of joy to a club that has been struggling for the past few years to retain their championship status.
Tears in my eyes. This is the man that made me fall in love with football and now he’s back in a red shirt. Greatest day ever — RiZzy (@RiZzyUTD) August 27, 2021
Memes started to flood the social media sphere as fans engaged in friendly banter.
I mean…
Benjamin Mendy of Man City was remanded with rape charges just a few hours before the news of CR7’s homecoming.
Gotta love how soccer unites almost all sports fans.
Legends like Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand and David Beckham welcomed CR7 back home with open arms.
Usain Bolt also pitched in his congratulations.
Current players like Juan Mata and Bruno Fernandes acknowledged the return of a legend in their own way.
Even local DJ Joakim Gomez couldn’t contain his excitement.
Other fans are rather salty especially since the rumoured transfer to the other Manchester club.
Some speculated that the homecoming might have been pre planned considering what Cristiano said in an interview back in 2015.
True enough, Fergie is the main reason why CR is back.
Die hard fans started comparing how quickly CR7 transfer news went viral in a matter of hours as compared to Messi’s transfer to Paris St Germaine at the age of 36 and 34 respectively.
After the age of 30, it is rare for a player to be transferred to big clubs. Even though he is a legendary player, Messi’s move to PSG at 34 was a big deal considering his age and the amount they signed him for $41 million.
After Ronaldo’s stint in Juventus, to come back to the club (at 36 years old) that made him is historical. Congratulations to Cristiano for reaffirming the epithet, “Dreams do come true.”
Reporter’s Opinions: I am sure grown ass men who grew up being CR7’s fanbois are crying tears of joy as they hug their fellow fans at this piece of news.
Truly, it is historic especially since Sir Alex Ferguson personally intervened just so that Man Utd won’t lose their prodigy to another club.
Although, I am sure there are United fans who used to shit talk Ronaldo, calling him Penaldo and all, are changing their tune now that he’s back.
