An AETOS Officer Removed For Being Rude To An Elderly Patient At TTSH
A recent video of an Aetos security personel’s rude behaviour towards an elderly patient at Tan Tock Seng hospital (TTSH) went viral with over 260k views on TikTok.
In the video, the security officer was seen observing two men trying to help their elderly father from the pick-up into the wheelchair. Instead of helping them, he snapped at them impatiently, asking them to hurry up as they were holding up the queue of cars at the arrival area.
What made matters worse was when the security officer decided to give two quick claps to signal them to be quick. His reasoning was that the pick-up truck was parked at a single zigzag line and the rest of the cars would follow suit.
One of the sons then told the security officer that he understood the ruling on the single zigzag line but all he asked for was some understanding as he needed to park there since it was more accessible.
An old aunty, presumably the wife of the uncle, apologised profusely for holding up the queue. Her apologies were drowned by the security officer’s counter argument about the single zigzag line.
The video was taken by Benedict Yeo who was sending his wife on his bike to work. He said that the security officer should have been more empathetic as the uncle had difficulty moving.
Netizens were outraged at the lack of the compassion displayed by the security officer and called for Benedict to reveal his identity.
Maybe he was just trying to do his job but it’s not wrong to show a little sympathy.
This is true.
The claps were unnecessary.
Karma is real.
Benedict said that he wrote in to TTSH about the incident. TTSH replied saying that the security officer has since been removed from duty at the hospital.
Benedict also clarified that he censored the face of the officer due to privacy reasons. He also didn’t want him to lose his job completely.
One mentioned that a lack of training is not an excuse to not show compassion.
An apology would be appropriate for the lack of kindness shown.
It is understandable that the officer may want to perform his job to the best of his abilities. But the lack of compassion was appalling. Allowing the family to wait 5 minutes won’t cost you your job but the 5 minutes of fame may just do that.
Reporter’s Opinions: The way he harped on and on about the zigzag line was fucking annoying.
Yeah we get it but that uncle is clearly having difficulty moving. It won’t kill you to assist them to make the transition smoother. If you had helped them, there won’t be the issue of a traffic pile up at the drop off area.
It pays to be kind even when you’ve had a bad day. It’s unnecessary to take it out on other people.
