Aliff Syukri Stirs Controversy With Scene Which Looks Like An Orgy In ‘Kelepok Raya’ Song
Aliff Syukri stirs up controversy yet again with his provocative new Raya song. The cosmetic mogul released a song titled “Kelepok Raya” where his wife, Datin Shahida and he are the main vocals. The song is about an argument between the married couple as they decide which kampung to go back to this Raya.
However, the video depicts effeminate men dressed in tight fitting baju kurung decked out in jewellery.
The whole video was interspersed with scenes of effeminate men wearing makeup, dancing sensually, and throwing provocative looks at the camera.

Michael Ang, a renowned Malaysian director, gave his two cents about the video. He is also known for being effeminate but he didn’t agree with the “orgy” scene. Michael felt that it was tasteless especially since it was released in Ramadan.
He said that the song itself is not bad, being able to catch the Raya vibe but the orgy scene was too much even for someone who is effeminate like him.
Netizens were both amused and enraged by Aliff’s antics.
Zarina Zainuddin, a Malaysian actress, was tickled by the video, saying that it was good that Aliff didn’t use lipstick in the video like the other dancers.
Wak Doyok, another influencer, compared the dance moves to ulat sagu kena goreng (grubs being fried in hot oil.) It is a term used for people who dance in a way meant to seduce and entice but fail badly.
Some were unhappy at how the men were wearing jewellery with modified baju kurung, saying it is an insult to tradition.

When asked in an interview if he was promoting the LGBTQ lifestyle in his video, Aliff mentioned that his only purpose was to showcase the art of dancing.
“I am not going to agree or deny promoting LGBTQ in my video but the main focus is that I want to showcase dance as an art.” – Dato Sri Aliff Syukri for Gempak.
He also said that he hired trained dancers for his video who actually hold day jobs. One of them is a lecturer and one is serving in the army.
“Just because they appear to be soft, it does not mean that they are part of the LGBTQ.
Some of them are married with children. We cannot judge a book by its cover.” – Dato Sri Aliff Syukri for Gempak.
When asked what’s the meaning of the title of his song, Aliff said it came from the slang, lepok, which means to hit someone.
“There is no other meaning to my song, I coined the term because it’s catchy.” – Dato Sri Aliff Syukri for Gempak.
Aliff’s song has garnered over 373K views overnight. He wanted virality, he got it. Kudos, Dato, for believing in your art.
Reporter’s Opinion: I gotta admit, the song is catchy. The endless loop I put it on just to get the screen grabs kinda imprinted the song in my head.
The orgy scene is a bit too much for a Raya song. I know you want your art to be different and thought provoking. Well provoke you did, just not in the way that you want.
