However, thanks to Liow Cai Tung, a politician from Johor Jaya assembly, she managed to arrange for 8 parents to reunite with their families back in Malaysia. Many of these parents will cross border over the weekends to see their children but since the border closure, they haven’t been able to hold their children.

In a joint effort by Immigration and Checkpoints Authority Singapore (ICA) and Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) with the help of Liow, 8 families were able to reunite just in time for the Mid-Autumn festival. Waterworks ensued as the parents were able to hold their children after months of just virtual contact.

It is a touching moment indeed because it’s not easy to be away from your own children for long periods of time. Some of the parents Liow helped thanked her in a comment on the Facebook post.
Reporter’s Opinions: It is not easy to be away from your own children, young ones especially.
We are truly living in an extraordinary time and while these children were separated from their parents, they will always remember being reunited as a significant milestone.
2020 will go down in history as a very interesting year and I can’t imagine how it will look like in the history books of the future.
