The death of two 11 year old brothers believed to be twins shocked local netizens on Saturday afternoon, Jan 22. The boys were found motionless at a playground at Greenridge Crescent at around 6.25 pm on Friday, Jan 21, by their father who then called for police assistance. They were pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic.
According to The Straits Times Facebook post, red police vans were found parked along the estate on Friday night, Jan 21.
The Gurkha regiment was also seen combing the forested area behind the playground as part of the investigation on Saturday noon, Jan 22.
While investigations are ongoing, netizens took to the comments section to express their condolences to the grieving family.
There are those whose interest were piqued due to the presence of the Gurkha regiment combing the forested area for clues and the Special Ops Command vans
Then there are those who activated their inner Sherlock because the report is rather vague for now.
The Straits Times reported that two police cars and plain clothes police officers were spotted talking to residents around the Eng Kong estate at noon on Saturday, Jan 22.
MP Sim Ann expressed her condolences to the family and urged the public to wait for an official statement from the police.
Investigations are currently ongoing for the case of unnatural deaths of the two boys.
Our heartfelt condolences to the family and may their souls rest in peace.
Reporter’s Opinions: It is always tragic when young innocent lives are cut short regardless of how. But there is an air of mystery surrounding this case.
Firstly due to the very vague reporting, there is no heads or tails to how the boys were found dead. Were the boys strangled or poisoned or drowned somehow?
Secondly, the boys were found on Friday evening at the playground by their father. The presence of the red vans and the Gurkha regiment kinda piques public interest. Did they go missing while exploring off the beaten track or,a scarier thought, were they kidnapped?
Thirdly, the location itself is secluded, there’s no cctv in the vicinity. I talked to a few sources who mentioned that the area itself is weird and creepy especially in the evenings.
It is definitely bizarre. Maybe it’s just me who has an obsession with crime documentaries but the location, how they were found and where they were found spooks me out.
It kinda reminds me of the Adrian Lim case from the 80s, only without the blood and gore.
